2The BakBone NetVault client agent is pre-installed on GuardianOS version 3.0 and later.
3To backup a Snap Server using Symantec Backup Exec version 11, you must install version 10 of their client agent software on GuardianOS.
4NDMP backups protect all file/folder permissions and metadata.
5Requires BakBone NetVault SmartClient license.

For information on how to install backup client agents on GuardianOS, please refer to the "Third Party Backup Applications" section of the Snap Server Administrator Guide.

Tape Drive and Library Compatibility

GuardianOS supports tape drives and libraries attached via Parallel SCSI or USB.

For a compete list of supported tape drives and libraries, refer to BakBone's supported drives and supported libraries documents at http://www.bakbone.com/support/product_documentation/default.asp.

Host Bus Adapter Compatibility

The Snap Server 520 and 650 models include an on-board Ultra320 LVD SCSI connector to attach a tape drive or library to. Other Snap Server models support the addition of a PCI SCSI Host Bus Adapter for tape connectivity.

3If you are creating iSCSI disks on a Snap Server with two Ethernet ports, follow these guidelines closely to prevent a potential data-loss issue in a Mac OS X environment. If you are only using one of the two Ethernet ports, disable the other one by navigating to Network > TCP/IP > Properties in the GuardianOS web UI. If you want to take advantage of both Ethernet ports, set them to Load Balance or Failover modes.

Boot from iSCSI Support
